Like, swipe, pinch, link, follow and forget, my paintings draw from the stark metrics that constitute perception within the digital, where the act of seeing infers being seen. Behind fleeting surfaces and obfuscated code, the intersubjective function of digital images trades views for metadata, yet leaves no tactile trace. Only tendencies - tendencies of seeing, contingencies of clicking - are manifest through the livefeed sublimation of curated content, our measured unconscious. Complicit with the traditional portrait, the nude, the headshot, the selfie, the avatar, the screen capture, the leak and the lure, I render this subtextual palimpsest as a portrait of our everyday gaze.
