My work is about detournement, which is a fancy word for overwriting. Fundamentally this intones the political reality that democracy cannot survive in a fixed state - it must be subjected to continual revisions through discourse. In my work I translate this literally, producing master copies, as a tabula rasa. These surfaces I take as my own, painting over top of them.

There is nothing sacred in historical artworks, they must be challenged, reconsidered, and as necessary, revised - so that art can remain relevant to our ongoing pursuit of equality.
